Apart from asking where I am (ie – you lazy git, so-called blogger – where are the blog posts?) most of the emails I’ve received from readers lately have contained the question – ‘is it safe to come to Egypt?’. Well in a word…..depends.

It is summer. The heat is on, again. The exodus is kicking in, both foreigners and Egyptians are heading for the airport on a promise of a cooler, dust free holiday away from the smoke, traffic and congestion. I shall not be going to England for the summer holidays. I shall be staying in Egypt.
